As an important part of mechanical equipment, the bearing is related to the normal operation of the equipment, and whether the bearing is correctly installed is related to the service life of the bearing, so everyone must pay attention to it. This article describes the five steps to properly install the bearing, and attaches the installation instructions for several common bearings.

  • 1. Use bearing to install and disassemble special tools
  • Advanced mounting tools to avoid bearing damage due to improper tooling and handling during installation. For example, when installing the bearing, the staff used the copper rod knock-in method, which easily caused the bearing axial force to be uneven, causing the cage to deform, the rolling element to be damaged, the clearance to become large, and the copper rod during the tapping process. The copper powder flies into the bearing cage, which is easy to cause bearing failure.


  • 2. Check the bearing before installation
  • For old bearings, check the ball (column) surface for burrs, scratches, and cracks. Whether the radial clearance and axial clearance of the old bearing are qualified, generally only the radial clearance is measured.

    For new bearings, first check that the bearing model is correct. For example: Model 6318 deep groove ball bearing, bearing inner diameter of 90mm, its radial clearance range is 0.016 ~ 0.046mm, can also be found that the maximum wear of the bearing is 0.25mm.

  • 3. Check the fit size of the bearing and rotor shaft
  • When assembling the motor, it is necessary to carefully check the fit size of the bearing and the rotor shaft when the bearing is installed, and the fit size of the outer ring of the bearing and the end cover hole.


  • 4. Control the amount of oil in the bearing and bearing chamber
  • Excessive oil in the bearing and the box will cause the bearing rolling elements to slip, causing the rolling body to become sliding friction by rolling friction, damaging the bearing rolling elements. Due to excessive bearing oil, the free space in the bearing housing is small, and the operating temperature of the bearing will be Ascending, the lubricating oil film of the rolling element is thinned, the lubrication condition is poor, the bearing noise is easily caused, the surface is slippery, and the life of the bearing is shortened.

    In the actual working process, for bearings operating at high temperature and high speed, the bearing with sealing surface should be used as little as possible, increase the oil content of the motor oil cover, and install the fuel nozzle to improve the operating life of the motor bearing.


  • 5. Take care to ensure that the insulation is intact
  • For bearings with insulated design on the outer ring, care must be taken to ensure that the insulation is intact. If the bearing insulation is damaged during installation, the thin bearing oil film will be broken by the shaft voltage. After the oil film breaks down, not only the rolling element lubrication condition is bad, but also the electric spark generated will cause electric corrosion of the bearing rolling body, causing rolling elements. The surface is not light, accelerating the wear of the bearing.
